Slovakia: asked the resignation of the Minister of Defense

Problems are the acceptance letters of the offer for F-16 aircraft

The letters signed by the Slovak Defense Minister Peter Gajdos accepting the US offer for the acquisition of 14 Lockheed Martin F-16 aircraft for the Bratislava Air Force are creating havoc in the country's policy since it is not yet government approval arrived on the order to be made. The US fighters will be delivered, if all goes ahead, from 2024 for a total expenditure of 1.6 billion euros and that will serve to replace the Mikoyan MiG-29 of Soviet manufacture. The minister defended himself from the attacks by assuring that before the order is operational, he is awaiting the green light of the government, but opposition politicians are repeatedly demanding the resignation of Gajdos or his exclusion by Prime Minister Peter Pellegrini. The main point of question is what, and if, need to buy these F-16 that would lead to an important financial expenditure, especially without being a public contract.
