Alitalia. Galli: "Probable extension of the State bridge loan"
To find "a partner in the sector" is necessary for the undersecretary
Speaking on "Radio Uno Rai", the Undersecretary for Economic Development Dario Galli replied about the bridge loan of 900 million euros that the airline Alitalia must repay to the Italian State by next December 15. The "novelty" would be that the Government is thinking of renewing it. Galli has in fact declared that "between now and December I believe it can be extended", even if the main problem concerns the European Union (EU) and the possibility of opening an infringement procedure for possible State aid. In addition, in his interview the undersecretary also recalled how "the times were over when if a company had a problem the state had to put the money", and for this "in the carriers' command there must be professionals to compare themselves to the best in a difficult market". The only solution to revive Alitalia according to Galli it will be "a partnership with a large airline that values the competitive levers and the value of the brand". Being the undersecretary of the Northern League, it is to be expected that a new front within the Government could soon open up regarding Alitalia's new corporate and shareholding structure.
